PGA
TOUR logo mark of success
By: Garry Smits
To
Glen Clen, the blue rectangle with the large red letters and
the familiar white silhouette of a folfer at the top of a
classic finish is money in the bank.
"That logo is all about
prestige," said the president of Burton Golf, which
makes custom golf bags. "It represents the pinnacle
of golf. As far as we're concerned, that brand is the leading
brand in the industry."
To Jolinda McGovern, the vice
president of sales for Sun Mountain, an outwear manufacturer,
the logo is as instantly associated with quality as another
familiar symbol.
"It's as widely recognized
as the Swoosh," she said, referring to Nike's corporate
logo.
High praise in both cases.
But Clen and McGovern are in business to make money, and
business is better, they say, because of their association
with the PGA TOUR's Retail Licensing program.
